Yes, the coverage is international, ideal for expeditions anywhere in the world.

It does not cover situations such as:

Yes, there are premium plans or supplementary insurance that increase the coverage amounts and benefits.

Not necessarily. It is recommended to supplement it with comprehensive travel insurance, especially for extensive medical coverage and cancellations.

Accidental life annuity

I currently have a valid insurance policy. Can I extend it now?

First: Accidental life annuity coverage lasts for 365 days from the day after you take out the policy. If your policy expires within the next two months, you can extend the accidental life annuity. The start date will then be linked to your current contract.

If the expiration date is more than two months away, you cannot yet extend the insurance.

No, since the add-on product is linked to your Global Mountain membership, the insurance must be renewed separately after 365 days.

Lena from KNOX will send you a reminder to the email address you provided well in advance of the deadline.

Membership can be accessed via:

  • Payments can be made via EPS instant transfer. For this, you need access to online banking.
  • Payment can be made by credit card (VISA, Mastercard, Diners Club). In this case, you will also need online banking, as two-factor authentication is required.
  • Payment can be made via PayPal.

If you don’t have online banking:

  • By purchasing on account

If the function of the affected body parts or sensory organs was already permanently impaired before the accident, the degree of pre-existing disability is deducted from the degree of disability.

If you suffer a serious accident during a leisure activity with permanent consequences, i.e., a total physical disability of 50% or more, you are entitled to a monthly lifetime pension based on your chosen annual contribution. Important: For people under 15 and over 74, a lump sum payment is provided instead of the monthly pension, also based on your chosen annual contribution. You can find more detailed information here.

Family accident annuity insurance is only cost-effective when spouses and civil partners wish to insure themselves and at least two children living in the same household.

Note: You can also insure children up to 15 years old, provided all family members are registered with Global Mountain.

Please also check your spam folder. If you still can’t find it, please email us at info@socorroandinoperuano.com and we will send you confirmation immediately.

No, accidental death is not covered. After the death of the pension beneficiary, the pension will be paid monthly to their heirs for a maximum period of 20 years.

An accident occurs when the insured person involuntarily suffers bodily injuries as a result of a sudden external event (accident).

Dog rescue insurance

Who is responsible for arranging rescue insurance for dogs?

A prerequisite for becoming a member is that the dog’s owner be a member of Global Mountain.

The insurance then applies to the dog and remains valid regardless of who travels with it.

Yes, provided the dog owner is a member of the Austrian Alpine Club (ÖAV) and has taken out dog rescue insurance.

Call the local emergency number and start the rescue chain.

No. Dog rescue insurance membership is reserved exclusively for Global Mountain members.

A separate insurance policy must be taken out for each dog.

Yes, the insurance coverage is valid worldwide.

No, the insurance policy is valid for 365 days and does not renew automatically. If you wish to continue insuring your pet, please register again.

Insurance for sports equipment

Is the theft itself insured?

No, outright theft is not covered by insurance. “Loss” in the context of sports equipment insurance means, for example, that you lose your equipment during a rescue operation.

The insurance does not cover sports equipment loaned to organizations or stores.

Yes, the deductible for sports equipment insurance is €350.

This refers to an event covered by your Global Mountain membership. This includes, for example, a rescue in difficult terrain or medical treatment abroad due to an accident or illness.

Global Mountain Rescue service included in membership

Do I have insurance coverage abroad as a Global Mountain member?

Both in your home country and abroad, rescue expenses in difficult terrain are covered during your free time.

In addition, for the first 8 weeks of each trip abroad, necessary medical expenses, such as treatment and repatriation, are covered. You can find more information here.

No, treatment costs within the country (country of permanent residence) are not covered by Global Mountain.

On this page, you will find an online form to report damages. Please complete all required information and attach your invoices, both paid and outstanding.

For invoices related to rescue expenses, please also attach an incident report. Important: Details of any additional insurance policies, credit cards, etc., must be provided accurately and are mandatory.

The incident report must be requested from the rescue organization that recovered you. It must be attached to your invoice when you submit your claim online.

You can prepay the invoice and upload it to the “Paid Invoices” section when submitting your claim online, providing your IBAN. Otherwise, upload the invoice to the “Unpaid Invoices” section. In this case, you will need to request a payment suspension from the invoice issuer to avoid unnecessary additional costs.

When requesting reimbursement for medical expenses abroad, you must attach proof of your mandatory health insurance or social security coverage from your home country, along with the invoices. Important: It is mandatory to provide accurate information about any additional insurance policies, credit cards, etc.

If there is no mandatory health insurance or social security coverage in your home country, this must be stated in the claim report.

Once the insurance company has received all the documentation, it has a period of four weeks to decide whether the claim is justified.

On this page you can request an insurance certificate. You can choose between an annual certificate (for any number of trips per year) and a certificate for a specific trip.

The document is available for download in German and Italian on this page, in the “Confirmation of Responsibility” section.

No, the Global Mountain card is a membership card, not a health insurance card. At doctors’ offices, hospitals, and similar establishments, you must present your personal health insurance card (e.g., the electronic card).

No, because school-organized ski trips are considered professional activity.

An expedition is defined as a journey lasting from several days to weeks, partly exploratory or research-based, to seldom-visited areas without permanent infrastructure (e.g., cabins).

False alarms caused by members and the resulting costs are insured under the heading “Rescue Costs” up to a maximum of €250 each (this does not include accidents, emergencies or mountain or water emergencies).

Current travel warnings can be obtained from the relevant authorities. Insurance coverage through the Alpine Club World Service remains in effect even if a travel warning is in place. However, we wish to clarify that we cannot guarantee that repatriation services and on-site medical care will be provided at the usual quality.
