Insurance for sports equipment

Sports equipment

Whether you’re skiing, hiking, mountain biking or climbing: with sports equipment insurance, your favorite items receive the protection they deserve after an incident covered by the Global Mountain Rescue Service.

Recovery
If you have an accident while practicing your sport and are rescued, your equipment may be left behind at the scene. With this additional benefit, you won’t have to worry: the rescue of your equipment will also be covered, and you will be reimbursed for any associated costs, provided it is an event covered by Global Mountain Rescue.
  • Maximum compensation: Up to $3,240 per incident.

  • Deductible (Deductible): A charge of $378 will apply per claim.

What does “event” mean? “Covered”? This refers to any incident that occurs after you have taken out the insurance and that is included within the benefits of Global Mountain Rescue. Only events covered by your membership and that result in compensation from the primary insurer will also be covered by this sports equipment insurance.
Damage to or loss of sports equipment is covered provided it occurs as a result of an event covered by the GMR. In the event of damage requiring repair or total loss of the equipment following the incident, the maximum reimbursement will be the current market value of the equipment. Important note: Simple theft (without an accident or event covered by the AWS) is not included in this coverage.

The insurance covers the sports equipment necessary for the following sports: hiking, mountaineering, climbing, via ferrata, skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, whitewater kayaking, canyoning, and mountain biking/trekking routes, including e-bikes. Photography and video equipment, mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and similar items are excluded from coverage.

The contract is valid for one year from the start date and is not automatically renewed.

The start and end dates, as well as proof of insurance coverage for each individual member, are shown on the corresponding membership confirmation.
