What is NOT included or may have limitations?

General medical treatment: Does not include consultations, medications, surgery, or hospitalization once the patient arrives at the medical facility (depending on the plan).

Subsequent medical expenses: Evacuation may be covered, but subsequent treatment requires independent additional medical coverage.

Pre-existing illnesses or conditions: Previous medical conditions may be subject to exclusions or special terms.

Excluded activities: Not all adventure activities are automatically covered; risk levels or modalities with restrictions exist.

Mountain-related restrictions: High-altitude expeditions require reviewing specific altitude limits, especially for mountains of 6,000 m or higher.

Important Information

Maximum coverage: Up to US$50,000 per member for medical transport, when Global Rescue organizes/performs the rescue and conditions are met.

Territorial coverage: Worldwide 🌎, with geographical exclusions (US Department of State war zones and certain polar regions).

Modality: Search, rescue, medical evacuation, and transport services membership. It is not a traditional health or travel insurance policy.

Field rescue and evacuation: Includes rescue from the incident location to the nearest appropriate medical facility subject to membership rules.

High altitude (4,600 m+ / 7,300 m): For travel above 7,300 m or rescues above 4,600 m, purchasing the High-Altitude Evacuation Package is required (Additional cost of US$495 per person, for ages 16 and older).

Mandatory authorization: The member MUST contact Global Rescue during an emergency. If organized independently, there are no refunds.

Cost to the member: When Global Rescue organizes and executes the rescue under agreement criteria, the covered cost is US$0 up to the US$50,000 limit.

With the Mountain Rescue Card, members have a specialized solution to face emergency situations in remote environments, wilderness areas, and high-mountain regions, helping to facilitate coordination and response to incidents during their activities.

Can I organize my own rescue?
Whenever possible, contact our coordination center first before hiring or organizing rescue services on your own.
This allows us to assess the situation, determine the necessary resources, and coordinate the response appropriately. Services contracted directly by the member may be subject to the specific conditions of each plan.
Is helicopter evacuation included?
Helicopter evacuation may be covered depending on the contracted plan and the conditions of the emergency.
Its use will depend on factors such as location, accessibility, weather, operational safety, aircraft availability, and terrain conditions. In certain locations, ground evacuation may be the most appropriate alternative.
Does the Mountain Rescue Card include medical evacuation?
Medical evacuation and assistance services depend on the level of membership contracted.
When applicable, transfer from a remote area to a suitable medical facility can be coordinated, considering the clinical situation, location, and operational conditions.
Does the membership only work in Peru?
The Mountain Rescue Card is an international affiliation project developed by Global Mountain Rescue S.A.C.
Services available outside Peru will be subject to the territory, contracted plan, membership conditions, and resource coordination capacity at the destination.
Does the membership replace travel insurance?
Not necessarily. The Mountain Rescue Card and travel insurance serve different functions and can complement each other.
The membership is primarily focused on rescue, evacuation, assistance, and emergency coordination, while travel insurance may cover other benefits such as medical expenses, trip cancellation, trip interruption, baggage, or other benefits, depending on the contracted policy.
Is 24-hour assistance available?
Plans that include 24/7 assistance and coordination allow you to request support during the established coverage period.
