Helpline Plus
Helpline Plus
“If something happens, I won’t know.” This is because neither hospitals nor the police are allowed to release information, and patients often can’t. Then begins the ordeal of dealing with confidentiality and data protection. Global Mountain Rescue frees families from this uncertainty and regulates the right to information in the event of accidents in all walks of life.
Expansion to all areas of life
What does this extension mean for you?
Our current service, HelpLine, provides effective assistance to both you and your emergency contacts in the event of a rescue following an accident in difficult terrain. This service is free for GMR members and is activated for all events covered by AWS.
Assistance for you: anytime, anywhere
With this upgrade, you extend Global Mountain Rescue’s protection to all areas of your life. You’ll be covered for medical emergencies or accidents during your free time, in traffic, at work, or even at school.
This is how GMR helps
Imagine arriving at the hospital and being unable to communicate. You can’t alert anyone, and by law, neither the hospital nor emergency services can release information to third parties. By activating Global Mountain Rescue, you pre-authorize medical personnel to share information and prepare all necessary consent forms in accordance with data protection regulations.
1. Fast and efficient assistance
Both in your country and abroad. In the event of an accident, this allows for quick and efficient access to information. You’ll receive much more effective support: the Tyrol Air Ambulance (TAA) will be able to respond more rapidly, and medical personnel will be able to access vital medical information, such as pre-existing conditions or allergies, reducing unnecessary consultations.
2. Your emergency contacts will receive information about:
- The accident that occurred.
- Your exact location (even abroad).
- Your current health status.
Examples
Example 1: Notification by a Passenger
Julia is traveling by car with a friend. Suddenly, at a poorly lit intersection, the inevitable happens: Julia collides with another vehicle. Due to the impact on the driver’s side, Julia is knocked unconscious. After calling emergency services and receiving first aid, her friend realizes she doesn’t have Julia’s parents’ phone numbers. Fortunately, she remembers the HelpLine: after a call to +51 943 081 066, TAA agents immediately inform Julia’s emergency contacts. From that moment on, the HelpLine receives updated information about Julia’s condition and constantly transmits it to her family.
Example 2: Climbing Accident – Notification by a Passenger
Isabelle, originally from Innsbruck, is studying in Vienna. After suffering a serious climbing accident, she is taken to the hospital. When one of her climbing friends manages to alert her parents, they immediately want to know where she’s been taken and how she is. Luckily, Isabelle had registered her mother as an emergency contact on the HelpLine. The mother contacts the call center at +51 943 081 066 and, being authorized, receives constant updates on her daughter’s location and well-being.
